Mark has a very colorful tennis history. After graduating from Santa Barbara High in 1981, he won the National Amateur singles Title along with the National Amateur Clay Court Doubles title in that same year. He also played on the NCAA championship teams in 1981 and 1984, while earning ALL American status in Singles and Doubles in 1984. In 1985 Mark received the “Unsung Player” award for NCAA Division 1 Men’s Tennis. After graduating from UCLA with a Sociology degree in 1986 he played on the pro circuit for over two years playing in the doubles main draw at the French Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open.
He went on to become Tennis Director at Birnam Wood Golf Club from 1990-1996. Mark was the Tri-County Area Training Center Coach for two years and the USTA Boys and Girls Team Zonals Coach in Pompano Beach, Florida, and in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mark has been our Tennis Director since 1996 and has an excellent understanding of both the mental and strategy aspects of tennis and enjoys teaching a variety of ability and age levels.
